Matt & Lauren's Surprise Proposal | Wormsloe State Historic Site

Wormsloe Historical Site Surprise Proposal, Engagement

Matt emailed me last month looking for a photographer to help shoot a surprise proposal.  He was traveling with his girlfriend Lauren to our charming city and wanted to pop the question in an intimate location.  Wormsloe is always the answer!  We came up with ideas during the weeks leading up to their trip for how to get Lauren to dress up and why they had to be there as Wormsloe opened.  Matt told her they had a tour at 9:30 am and a nice lunch planned afterward.

I arrived at opening Friday morning.  I was all set up at the end of the breathtaking avenue sheltered by live oaks and Spanish moss when... a couple decided to park next to my car, blast "Evil Woman" by ELO (one of my dad's favorite bands but this was not the time for it) and get out without shutting their doors.  They wanted to explore and take pictures as I quietly had a mini panic attack.  How horrible would it have been if you hear "Evil Woman" as you propose to your girlfriend?!?  Thankfully, they got back in their car right as I saw Matt & Lauren driving in.

They got out of the car and took a few selfies together.  As they were walking back to the car Matt dropped to one knee.  Lauren was in complete shock.  As I approached she said, "It's been three years, five months and four days."  Matt was able to propose using Lauren's beautiful family heirloom.  The setting is simply stunning.

Congrats Matt & Lauren!  You guys have reminded me just how beautiful our southern city is and all of the love it holds.
